Happy New Year! I hope everyone rung in the New Year in whatever manner makes you the happiest. If you choose to set goals or resolutions I hope they are things that will make you happier and feel better. Whatever goals you set or don’t set, make sure you love and take care of yourself.
I’ve decided to set goals that add more to my life. Here are some of my goals for 2017:
Support more female artists. For starters I found this awesome illustrator on Instagram and she has some amazing illustrations. Her handle is @tylerfeder and her Etsy shop is called roaringsoftly.etsy.com. This will be the first print I buy :)
Take a more active role in my civic duties. It is obvious that now is the time to do more. Volunteer more, protest more, listen more. Exercise your first amendment rights while you still have them. The next four years have the potential to be brutal and gutting to the majority of Americans. I want to make sure I do everything in my power to stop that. I’m tired of thinking that one voice doesn’t matter. If I am being honest that is the cowards way out and a way to hide behind a wall and do nothing while not feeling guilty.
Try more scotches. It is not surprise I love Scotch. I want to try all sorts of different expressions. Budget for some more expensive drams as well.
Watching new TV shows. I have a habit of just putting on a show that I have seen a thousand time and letting it run in the background. It is probably not good for me. Instead I’m going to sit down and actually enjoy a new show. TV shows add a lot in the way of entertainment value to lives.
Try New Makeup looks. Luckily this won’t involve buying any new makeup because I have so many palettes that are capable of creating thousands of new looks. I also got the New Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette for Christmas and I’ve already had a lot of fun with it. I hope to finds some new tutorials and rock them.
Read all the books I already have on my bookshelf, then donate or sell the ones I do not plan on reading or referencing again. I started a journey with minimalism awhile ago. To me minimalism is about getting rid of things in my life that are not adding to it and creating less waste. I got a Kindle for christmas (thanks Mom and Dad) so all new books that I want will either be rented from the library or bought in ebook format. With a few exceptions, only an act of supernatural power would separate me from my Harry Potter collection.
These are all things I’m excited about! No forcing myself to eat more Kale or smoothies if I don’t want to. Also can someone please explain smoothie bowls to me? They just seem like less convenient smoothies?! Am I wrong? I hope you make 2017 absolutely amazing for yourself and March to the beat of your own drum. Do more of what makes you happy and be a kind, generous, and respectful person.
Let me know if you have any resolutions for the New Year in the comments!
